To provide scholarships or fellowship for doctoral and post-doctoral studies and research in any of the Indian/Foreign Universities. Studies may be for doctoral and post-doctoral research in the fields of Science and Technology, Humanities and Performing Arts. Scholarships are available when the previous candidate completes her work.

Eligibility for Scholarship for girls/women
- It is open for doctoral or post-doctoral research candidates only.
- Open to a post-graduate pursuing or intending to pursue her doctoral or post-doctoral research work in any Indian University, who can produce the relevant documents. Alternatively, she has to have an offer letter for doctoral or post-doctoral research work from any foreign university.
- The potential candidate must be registered for her PhD program. Letter of Registration with the topic to be submitted with the Application Form.
- The candidate's academic documents submitted with the Application Form in support of her research work must have a forwarding letter issued by the Research guide. In the case of a foreign university, a copy of the Offer Letter has to be submitted.
- The candidate must be a member of a local Association affiliated to the Indian Federation of University Women's Associations (IFUWA) or a direct member of IFUWA. If the selected candidate is a new member, then she must pay her membership subscription to qualify for the fellowship and continue her membership subscription till the completion of the research work.
- IFUWA expects the selected candidate to become a regular member of the local Association of IFUWA to further the cause of IFUWA.
Conditions
- The endowment is paid in three instalments. The first instalment is handed over at the commencement of the fellowship. The next two instalments are paid in each of the next two financial years, one in each year. Progress reports of the Research has to be submitted by the candidate, duly verified, recommended and forwarded by her research guide, prior to the release of each of the two instalments.
- The final instalment will be paid after submission of the thesis at the University and a printed copy of the same submitted at the IFUWA Headquarters (with Convener).
- Applications must be forwarded by the Presidents of the local Associations or by the President, IFUWA, if the applicant is a direct member of IFUWA.
Duration
Three years (may be extended for exceptional cases).
Hard copies of the completed applications must be signed by the local UWA President/Secretary/Association Representative and Scholarship Convener. The application should then be sent by post to the President, IFUWA and the Scholarship Convener along with the soft copy of the same, by e-mail, to both.

Dr Bina Roy Memorial Research Fellowship
This fellowship is offered in honour of Dr Bina Roy (April 13, 1914 - March 11, 1994), the first Asian President of the International Federation of University Women in 1971-1974 (now GWI).
The objective is to provide fellowship for post-graduate study or research on women's development in professional and social spheres. This was instituted for promoting understanding and co-operation amongst SAARC countries.
Subjects to be considered for the scholarship include
Doctoral/post-doctoral study in Humanities, Social Sciences, Education, Law, Medical or Women's Development Studies.
Value Rs. 20,000/- per annum
Eligibility
- Open to graduates of the SAARC countries with University Degree at Masters level/Doctoral level. Only for Institutions in India. Candidates must procure information before applying.
Kumararani Dr Meena Muthiah of Chettinad Research Fellowship
This fellowship is instituted by Kumararani Dr Meena Muthiah of Chettinad, President of the Indian Federation of University of Women's Association (2014 – 2017).
The purpose is to provide fellowship for doctoral and post-doctoral studies and research in any Indian/Foreign University.
Subjects to be considered for the scholarship include
Doctoral and post-doctoral research in Science and Technology, Humanities and Performing Arts.
Value Maximum of Rs.60,000/- (Rupees Sixty thousand only), payable in three instalments of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand) each year.
Eligibility
- Open to post-graduates pursuing or intend to pursue their doctoral or post-doctoral research in any Indian Universities or has an offer letter for doctoral or post-doctoral research work from any foreign university.
- The potential candidate must be registered for her PhD programme. Letter of Registration with the topic to be submitted with the application form.
- The candidate's academic documents submitted with the application form in support of her research work must have a forwarding letter issued by the Research guide. In the case of a foreign university, a copy of the offer letter has to be submitted.
- The candidate must be a member of a local association of the Indian Federation of University Women's Associations (IFUWA) or a direct member of IFUWA. Suppose the selected candidate is a new member. In that case, she must pay for her membership subscription when receiving the fellowship and continue her membership subscription during the research work until completion. However, IFUWA expects her to become a regular member to serve the cause of IFUWA in return for the benefits she would enjoy from the organization.

- It is restricted to doctoral or post-doctoral research.
- The endowment will be paid in three instalments. The first instalment will be handed over at the commencement of the fellowship. The next two instalments each in one financial year will be paid upon receiving the progress reports submitted by the candidate verified, recommended and forwarded by her Research guide.
- The final instalment will be paid after submitting the thesis at the University and a copy of the same at the IFUWA Headquarter (with Convener).
- Applications must be forwarded by the Presidents of the local associations or by the President of IFUWA if the applicant is a direct member of IFUWA.
